Nothing like some high powered research to confirm the bleeding obvious.

This is not including internal parasites which would entail a separate research program and probably come up with similar results as many of the internal parasites need to be ingested by scratching hens.
While backyard hens must quietly suffer from the parasites this suffering seems to be ignored by the animal welfare groups.
